ARTIST STATEMENT

Inspiration for my artwork comes from current events and my experience of the world around me. I use a variety of techniques to express my concerns for political, global, feminist and personal issues. I enjoy doing research on various topics, collecting data, and translating the information into a visual form. My goal is to attract the viewer by presenting an artwork that is visually compelling and then to inspire them to find a deeper meaning beneath the work.

ARTIST BIO

I live in San Geronimo, California where I have raised two boys, one husband, one dog, and seven cats (only two at a time). Transferring from UC Davis where I took tractor driving, I graduated from UC Berkeley and became a Spanish teacher. After living in Spain and then working as a research analyst in Washington DC, I returned to the Bay Area and started a design, silkscreen business. Discovering a fiber sculpture class many years ago at College of Marin taught by Carole Beadle, I found my true passion and have been making art ever since. I have exhibited internationally and was honoured to be selected for the San Francisco DeYoung Open and the DiRosa True North exhibit.
