Who We Are
Fiber Dimensions is a vibrant collective of approximately 35 fiber artists in the SF Bay Area, dedicated to exploring innovative and three-dimensional concepts in fiber art. Our group employs a diverse range of techniques and materials, fostering an environment of inspiration and collaboration through critiques, shared experiences, and group exhibitions. We are committed to supporting both emerging and established artists, providing a platform stage for creativity and innovative design.
We bring a diversity of disciplines to our work, from weaving, felting, quilting, and paper making to painting, woodworking, printing, and welding. Our breadth of presentation extends globally to any venue where the creative spirit summons. Though we may mix mediums and materials into forms that transcend definition, it is the vitality and potential of fiber that connects us in the unique Fiber Dimensions collaborative.
Fiber Dimensions is the realization of its founders’ vision. In 1990, a group that had participated in a compelling college fiber sculpture program launched a forum to sustain that momentum. We developed a monthly schedule of discussions, critiques, tours, guest speakers, and demonstrations, and have sponsored two art community symposia.
Fiber Dimensions has presented 13 group exhibits, most notably “Intersections” presented biannually in 2002, 2004, 2006, and 2008 at the San Francisco Presidio, sponsored by Fort Mason Foundation grants. Exhibits have been featured in Artweek and reviewed in Fiberarts Magazine and Surface Design Journal.
Fiberarts Design Book Six selected submissions from 36 countries to represent the scope of contemporary fiber art; six were Fiber Dimensions artists. Fiberarts Design Book Seven included eight Fiber Dimensions artists.
