Juline Beier

ARTIST STATEMENT

Sausalito artist Juline Beier has been recognized for her work in various forms of fiber art for many years.  Inspired by the art and textiles of a wide range of ethnic cultures, as well as found objects and artifacts from her own world, she has created a body of work that pays respectful tribute to her influences while still solidly reflecting her unique vision.

Juline's fiber wall sculptures begin as layers of color and texture that ultimately interact with space and shadow to create dreamlike landscapes that invite the viewer to look more deeply and on different levels.

Juline's unique vessels are created by molding layers of fiber or hand-printed and sewn paper, over existing hand-crafted forms.  In many ways, a culture defines itself through its containers and what is put in them.  Upon reflection we see what this artist’s fragile vessels were created to hold: our attention.
