Artists Statement
Having grown up in New Mexico, I find
myself inspired by that harsh, yet
tranquil landscape-and those elements that
somehow not only survive, but also thrive
in that harshness. I feel drawn to
interpreting that quiet tranquility from
my found materials-exploring how these can
be used to bring a sense of honor and joy
to the gifts of nature. My sculptures are
not preconceived, but evolve almost of
their own accord. It is during the art
making process that the meanings of the
pieces are revealed to me…. they are
primitive, yet current to modern times…
ceremonial, and serene.
