Statement
How do we come to be the people we are? Is
it the force of genetics,
transmitting jots of information about our
physical being and character
through the centuries in DNA? Is it the
history we carry - our ancestors'
travels and travails - that somehow gets
recorded in our psyches? Or
perhaps it is the effect of some sort of
universal consciousness about which
we are mostly not conscious? Arenšt
culture, popular custom and political
milieu formative? And what about personal,
direct experiences?
Suspecting the answer is "all of the
above", I seek to acknowledge these
various influences in my work.....by
excavating the memory of the past (both
personal and collective) and also by
testifying to events of the present, in
the earnest hope that in the creating , a
connection is made.
