Artist’s
Statement
In my persona as an artist I find endless
interest in the exploration and
experimentation with fiber. Since childhood
I’ve been fascinated and charmed by
fabric/fabric that is ever-present in our
lives and history, as essential for ordinary
clothing as it is for splendid, regal robes.
Fabric provides me with unlimited creative
possibilities to print, dye, and manipulate,
and also the opportunity to challenge
traditional concepts of strength, fragility,
and the struggle for permanence in life.
I am linked to my past through the threads in
my art. Throughout each exploration I seek and
attempt to recognize the unexpected.
My recent
adventure into the fiber of corrugated paper
has produced some autobiographical works and
some with quilting references. It continues
to be an adventure.
