fiber/DIMENSIONS
A San Francisco Bay Area art presence that is internationally recognized in the fiber art field, fiber/DIMENSIONS is the realization of its founders' vision. In 1990 a group which had participated in a compelling college fiber sculpture program launched a forum to sustain that momentum. We developed a monthly schedule of discussions, critiques, tours, guest speakers, and demonstrations, and have presented twelve fiber/DIMENSIONS exhibits and sponsored two art community symposia.
Exhibits at The San Francisco Presidio in 2002, 2004 and 2006 were supported by Fort Mason Foundation Grants. Exhibits have been featured in Artweek and reviewed in Fiberarts Magazine and Surface Design Journal. Fiberarts Design Book Six selected submissions from 36 countries to represent the scope of contemporary fiber art; six were fiber/DIMENSIONS artists. Fiberarts Design Book Seven included eight f/D artists.
We bring a diversity of disciplines to our work, from weaving, felting, quilting, and paper making to painting, woodworking, printing, and welding. Our breadth of presentation extends globally to any venue where the creative spirit summons. Though we may mix mediums and materials into forms that transcend definition, it is the vitality and potential of fiber that connects us in the unique fiber/DIMENSIONS collaborative.
